Story
Ruby Abraham opened her drapery store in Stanley Street in about 1930. When Ruby married in 1946, her husband, Les Richards, joined the business and its became Richards drapery. The store was well-located because at that time:
Woolloongabba was like…the city…It was a hub. It was a really…busy hub. It had the trams…it had the train…it was very busy…It was very multicultural. My memory as a little boy was mainly of course…the Russian population at the Gabba…there’s the church there, the Russian Orthodox Church just up the road from our shop.
