Story

Boyd Abraham was the youngest son of George and Jamilie (Jean) Abraham. Boyd and his siblings were all born in Australia. As a young child, he lived at Goombungee where his parents had a store. The family then moved to a cane farm on the Maroochy River before relocating to Kangaroo Point Brisbane in about 1929 where they had a home in Leopard Street. His early schooling was at Bli Bli State School, then in Brisbane he attended Kangaroo Point State School.

Although the family lived in Brisbane, Boyd’s father, George, worked as a hawker establishing a route through the Darling Downs. When George replaced his horse and wagon with a truck, Boyd, who was fourteen, left school and went hawking with his father. Eventually, Boyd took over his father’s hawking run. As well as hawking, Boyd invested in real estate.

While he lived in Ashgrove after he married, he retained property in West End, including a house in Mollison Street and serviced rooms at 87c Boundary Street.
