Abraham Craitem and Rosa Farah, both from Zahle, married in Armidale in 1890. Between 1892 and 1911, they had nine children: Joseph (1892), Lily (1894), Nazira (1896), Alice (1899), George (1901, died 1902), Michael (1903), George (1906), Frederick (1908), Alma (1911). All were born in South Brisbane.
When he was naturalized in Queensland in 1892, Abraham, a storekeeper residing at South Brisbane, was 25 years old and had lived in Brisbane since 1889.
The family lived in several places including Montague Road, Stanley Street and Melbourne Street but by the birth of their sixth child they had settled in Hope Street, South Brisbane. When Abraham died in 1952, he was living at the corner of Melbourne and Boundary Streets South Brisbane. For over six decades, South Brisbane was Abraham’s home and several of his children lived and worked in the area.
